In September and October during 2013, President Xi Jinping proposed building "the Silk Road Economic Belt" and "the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road" respectively during he visited central and Southeast Asia, which referred to as " the Belt and Road Initiative". From the perspective of China, "the Belt and Road Initiative" is a significant strategy which based on China’s situation, adapt to the change of the world, hope for the breakthrough and overall long-term development of China’s peaceful rise and the state power; but from the perspective of the world, "the Belt and Road Initiative" is not just China’s national development strategy, it is to promote cooperation peace, development and win-win, global development initiative,open to the world."The Belt and Road Initiative" of an important significance on the future development of China, also conforms to the fundamental interests of the international community. How to let the world know the identity, and actively participate in the political and economic activities related to "the Belt and Road Initiative" ? In addition to relying on the existence of interest between other countries and China, we also need to well done the external communication of "the Belt and Road Initiative".From October 2013 to now, nearly two and a half years have passed, the external communication activities of China’s "the Belt and Road Initiative" have attracted many media fans at home and abroad, in view of "The Belt and Road Initiative" external communication is a more macro research category, the real data gathered by the author is limited, this paper mainly focuses on the China media or overseas Chinese media whose spread force is more prominent, and regard the external communication of "The Belt and Road Initiative" for their own communication core or disseminate hot at present, by exploring their current pattern constituted during the external communication activities of "the Belt and Road Initiative", faced with what predicament, a straw shows which way the wind blows, which can help us get a glimpse of development trend of external communication on "The Belt and Road Initiative".On this basis, the article mainly discusses the background, necessity, pattern,difficulties and corresponding countermeasures of external communication on "The Belt and Road Initiative ".In the analysis of the background on "the Belt and Road Initiative", this articlemainly from two visual angles to discuss, say concretely, one mentions that "the Belt and Road Initiative" can meet China’s self interest demand during the new period,meanwhile, the other means that the initiative can help China to adapt the new identity "Peaceful rising power"; while, on the necessity of "the Belt and Road Initiative" external communication, the article holds the objective attribute of the initiative itself and the complex international public opinion environment these two key factors to demonstrate; according to the research of the present situation of the external communication on the main media of "The Belt and Road Initiative", the author believes that "The Belt and Road Initiative" has formed three step propagation pattern during the external communication activities, the representative communication behavior of these medias are discussed respectively in this paper; the external communication of "the Belt and Road Initiative" is a long way to go to work,and may shoulder heavy responsibilities, "the Belt and Road Initiative" will be certain to encounter many obstacles during its external communication activities, which is embodied in the main media of the external communication on "The Belt and Road Initiative", this article mainly from the predicament of language and culture in the broad sense, and the predicament of the mainstream media their own external communication force to explore; accordingly, in the fifth part of this paper, it puts forward some thoughts on the three predicament.
