The Research Of WIP Waiting Time Optimization In G Company

WIP-Work in process. Means during the mass production process, there are some parts,sub-assemblies, semi-finish good and finish good are waiting for assembling in the nextstation due to different reasons. WIPs are existed in all types of product in every productionline, the waiting time is decided by the manufacturing process of the product. Although itseems normal in most of the factories that WIP cannot be avoided, but if the waiting time ofWIP is too long, it will seriously affect the cycle time of the product result in the delivery datedelay and low efficiency or even slow down the company cash flow. Today’s market istowarding to the small quantities orders and more and more types of product, it becomeimportant to reduce the WIP waiting time in manufacturing company to speed up the process.G company is OEM/ODM factory which is producing Loudspeaker systems andtransducers. As same as other factories, there are lots of WIPs existed in the manufactureprocess. In the dissertation, we will study the current WIP level and status of G company andfind out all the objective and subjective constraints causing the long WIP waiting time. Thensolutions will be provided and performed. The target is to reduce the WIP waiting time about30%so that to reduce the cycle time and production efficiency.Lean produciton concept and theory will be used to design the solutions. We willanalysis the WIP datas by using line balance investigation, layout and process re-design,KANBAN system and Pokayoky etc. In the meanwhile, we will also analysis the relationshipbetween WIP and manpower turnover rate and find out the solutions to reduce the turnoverrate which will make contributions to WIP.
