A Study On Vulnerability Of Social System Of Cities

The cities development has entered a coexistence era of globalization,urbanization, marketization and information technology after vicissitudes for fivethousand years.In the21st century,western development drive urban development inGansu province.Rapid urbanization also make series of social problems of the cityappear while Promoting economic and social of the city’s to stride into the moderndevelopment,such as increased population density and construction area, shortage ofmedical facilities, low levels of investment in education and environmental pollution.The sustainable development of society was hindered by these social problems whichcaused the fragility of the.social system.under the background of global environmental change research,vulnerabilitystudies have appeared frequently in many international scientific programs as animportant research and can develop gradually into an emerging discipline with thecontinuous improvement of research framework in recent years. In this paper, theconcept of vulnerability would be applied to the study of the of urban social systemsthrough the define of connotation on vulnerability of the social system, at the sametime, author constructed vulnerability assessment index system of urban social systemto analyzed deeply vulnerability of social system depending on the couplingcoordination degree size in the case of12major cities of Gansu province as the basicunit of research and China Statistical Yearbook as source of basic data.Whole article was divided into six parts：in the first part, background andsignificance,research content and methods were noted about this article; in the secondpart, vulnerability connotation of urban social system was defined of Gansucitiesbased on the research progress of domestic and foreign scholars on the socialsystem vulnerability； In the third section, focus of this article, social systemvulnerability of Gansu major cities was evaluated to discussed the size of the couplingcoordination degree of social systems from the two basic elements of vulnerability(sensitivity, response capabilities)and analyzed further the strength of the socialsystem vulnerability using entropy coefficient and coupling coordination degreemodel as to the basic theory of vulnerability theory; In the fourth part, the maincontent, according to the results of the third portion, sustainable about developmentsuggestion of cities were put forward from sensitive indicators and response capacityindicators; In the fifth section,the author suggested recommendations for urban sustainable development from seven areas according to deep analysis of urban socialvulnerability on cities,such as social instability, urbanization progress, medicalinsurance system of socity, income levels of inhabitant, living standard and conditionof inhabitant, education and input case, urban environmental governance.In the sixthsection,the author proposed innovative points and shortcomings of this paper anddrawed final conclusions after the full text summary, finally, future directions for deepresearch were proposed on the basis of the previous study.
