In recent years, with continue refinement of the social division of labor, the rapiddevelopment of domestic and foreign trade and the explosive growth of e-commerce. Chinalogistics activities have become increasingly frequent, with its business scale remained the topthree in the world. And express industry is one of its new rising force and a pioneer to lead thedirection of large-scale and standardization development. However, the competition structurealso initially appeared along with its development,main rivals competed with each otheraround speed, quality, service, cost and other core elements. F Express Company(hereinafterreferred to as F Company)is temporarily in a leading position key areas.F Company founded in Shunde City, Guangdong Province in1993,it started fromone-way express service from Guangdong to Hong Kong. and its business network keptexpanding from Zhongshan to Pearl River Delta and Yangtze River Delta; from southernChina to east China,Central China and North China; from mainland to Hong Kong, Taiwanand even overseas with more than ten years of continued efforts, and now it is at the head ofChina’s express industry. In order to ensure core competitiveness in the area of speed,quality,service and so on,F company invested huge to improve its own service network every year,making the company always enjoying the best reputation in express industry and loyal fans.But with increasing competition, its strategy of high quality high cost and pricing faceschallenge now, therefore it is necessary to re-examine the score of company operationnetwork, improving overall operational efficiency through rational planning and layout of itskey distribution center, maintaining the company’s core competitiveness.This thesis will discuss the case of F Company and draw valuable conclusions andrecommendations by four parts. The first part mainly introduces the industry background, anddefines the concept of distribution center and other related theory; The second part is casebrief introduction.Firstly, briefly shows the overview of F Company, its developing historyand operating situation. Then reviews the overall layout of its distribution center network, andtakes southern China distribution center for typical example; The third part is case analysis.Based on the information of its current external environment and market situation, mainlyanalyzes and discusses the layout and structure of its southern China distribution centernetwork, to identify its problems and lead the direction for future optimizing the distribution center layout and planning; The forth part is the key point of this paper, referred to a largequantity of literatures home and abroad, combined with the industry trend and years of FCompany’s operating data, to develop a serial of planning and layout strategy, and to putforward specific proposals for the layout and planning of overall distribution center networkespecially southern China distribution center; Finally,summarizes the paper and briefly looksforwards to the future development of F Company and its distribution center.Based on the analysis, re-planning and layout of F Company’s distribution center, whichis its core operating elements,this paper aims to optimize its network operation efficiency,reduce operating key costs and enhance the competitiveness of enterprises, Which willprovide valuable reference to F Company and its related companies.
