As the environmental protection increasingly being focused and tariff in international tradebeing cut down, environmental regulation measures are gradually becoming the newgreen trade barriers. In recent years, the EU issued a series of environmentalregulation rules. Then, how the EU environmental regulation influence the exportation ofChina, how to deal with the challenges of EU’s environmental regulation on China’s exporttrade, solving these problems will be vital significant on the future development of ourcountry.By means of economic theory, trade theory and analytical methods of modern econometrics, the paper studied the barriers function of the EU environmental regulations on China’s exporttrade, combining both theoretical and empirical aspects. In theory, this paper introduces thetrade situation of China exports to the EU, and then establishes three models to analyze theeffects of EU environmental regulations on China’s exports and conclude that the EUenvironmental regulation will increase the cost of China’s export products, reduce the valueof China’s export enterprises, and reduce the market share of our products. In the empiricalanalysis, this paper is based on the improved gravity model, conducted a regression test onthree kinds of home appliances exports to the EU14member states between1998a d2012,and conclude that the strict degree of EU environmental regulation have negative correlationwith the export volume of China’s home appliance. Finally, strategies it proposes to deal with the EU environmental regulation are that weshould understand environmental regulation correctly, government should strengthen serviceplatform to build the system of protective barriers, associations should improve industryenvironmental standards, and enterprises should promote products upgrade.
