| With several years of development, A consulting company has seen some achievements, but also some deep-seated problems that constrain its development. Based on surveys and substantial data, combined with the personal cognition and managerial experience in work,This dissertation takes A consulting company as a case study, analyzes the interior and exterior environment in its development, seeks out the opportunity and threat that a company faces in the future survival and development and finds out the interior strength and weakness; Meanwhile, developing strategic management tools like Boston Consulting Group Matrix and SWOT Matrix, are applied to establishment of the effective development strategies for implementation and control, so as to enable the company to effectively allocate the resources, strengthen the cohesive force, enhance the market shares,and to create more economic efficiency for the company and therefore more wealth for the society. The further applicability of it will be of some reference and help for other consulting companies of this kind.This dissertation firstly introduces the research background, significance and research status quo at home and abroad; secondly, combined with the actual situation like development history, business overview, and strategic background, analyzes the strategic environment including the exterior and interior environment. The exterior environment is mainly analyzed in terms of the macro situation in two respects of the traffic construction development in which the favorable factors and constrained conditions co-exist and specific division of traffic construction markets, while the interior environment is in five aspects of business development, financial cost, organization system, human resources and corporate culture, the analysis of which reveals the potential opportunity and threat of a consulting company in exterior environment and the strength and weakness in interior environment. Viewed globally, China’s traffic construction development is confronted with both opportunity and challenge. In the short-and mid-term, the traffic development remains at height in construction, and infrastructure construction grows rapidly; Viewed in the long run, the traffic construction marketing task will enter into stably developing phase, and construction and management stage. Thirdly is elaboration on the strategy establishment and choice. The strategic goals and objectives involve missions, prospect and development goals, with overall strategies, business strategies and function strategies as three strategies of a company. A consulting company is supposed to comply with the guideline of "curb on the overall situation, stress on breakthroughs, basis on reality, and focus on the future", to consolidate, strengthen and better consulting supervision business, to expand, specialize and broaden the design examination business, to explore and seize the opportunity to enter into the relative businesses such as scientific research, substitute project construction, construction cost audit in keeping with the development trend of traffic industry, to constantly improve the corporate governance structure, production and operation system and interior regulation system in the process of development, to strengthen human resources and corporate culture construction. The feasible strategies are proposed and chosen for a consulting company through three tools of exterior factor assessment matrix, interior factor assessment matrix and SWOT Matrix. Its overall strategies are supposed to take the operating development strategies of "double consolidations, double expansions, and double explorations", while business expansion strategies mainly take three levels of business composition strategy, stable triangle business collaboration effect strategy and seven relative business strategy; the function development strategies take the corporate governance structure system strategy, production and operation system strategy, interior regulation system strategy, human resources system strategy and corporate culture system strategy. Finally are the implementation and control of the strategies and proposals for feasible approaches and controls for the chosen development strategies. The overall strategies of a consulting company take a steady increase-oriented development strategies, with the aim at consolidating, strengthening and bettering consulting, supervising business, and based on it, further expanding, specializing and broadening the design, examination business, so as to further explore and enter into the relative fields such as scientific research, substitute project construction in keeping with the development trend of traffic industry. The implementation approaches and controls of the overall strategies mainly involve the market penetrating strategy and product-developing strategy, the business strategies are ensured through the specific consulting business strategy, the implementation and control of supervision business strategy and relative businesses, and the specific implementations and controls are proposed respectively in five aspects of corporate system and governance structure system strategies to fulfill the function strategies.A consulting company is currently in an important strategic transforming stage. Faced with the new opportunity, it needs to further unify the development strategy targets, specify the development orientation, implement the work measures, seize the opportunity, move forward with the favorable situation, transform the exterior opportunity into the development opportunity, and interior advantage into the development advantage, mobilize and exert enthusiasm and creativity of employees of all grades, and to co-compose the new chapter of the corporate development. The present research is of vital importance theoretically to further study in this field, and the relative theories, approaches and tools this dissertation adopts provide the theoretical support for the development strategies of a consulting company and other companies of this kind. |
