With the resource depletion and the environment problem becoming increasinglyprominent, organic agriculture as a resource-saving and environment-friendly agriculturalproduction has attracted more and more attention. Developing organic agriculture helps toprovide safety and healthy products, reduce environmental pollution, maintain ecologicalbalance. In the long run, it can also expand rural employment and increase farmers’ income. For the purpose of promoting the development of organic agriculture in China, thepaper analyzes farmers’ willingness and development path of organic agricultural production. The relevant data is collected by field interview and household survey.Firstly, this paper analyzes the current domestic and international situation of organicagriculture and focuses on the development scale of organic farming in Jiangsu Provincewhere organic agriculture develops rapidly. Secondly, the paper conducts a questionnairesurvey of conventional fruit growers in Jiangsu Province. Based on the questionnaire surveydata, a Logistic regression model is established to study the main factors affecting thewillingness of farmers to organic agricultural production. The research shows that more thanhalf of the conventional farmers are willing to convert to organic production. Moreover, ageand risk appetite of household head, sufficiency of labor force, expected income andenvironmental factor are the main factors significantly affecting farmers’ willingness oforganic agricultural production. Thirdly, a comparative study is conducted between theorganic transformation case of Wuxi Yangshan peaches and the case of Daizhuang organicagricultural cooperative. The vulnerability of separate farmers is considered to be the maincause of organic transformation failure of Wuxi Yangshan peaches. An organic agriculturalcooperative has been established in Daizhuang Village Jurong City. The cooperative arrangesorganic production and certification, provides technical guidance to farmers and takes chargeof the processing and distribution of organic products. Daizhuang organic agriculturalcooperative has overcome the vulnerability of separate organic farmers and made significantecological and economic benefits. However in our country the development of organicagricultural cooperatives has a short life. There are widespread problems such as the unsoundbenefit distribution mechanism, the lack of sales and technical personnel, the single productstructure and so on. Therefore, under the background of putting forward to create newagricultural management systems and cultivate new agricultural management subjects, thepaper believes that farmers can set up cooperatives on a voluntary basis and then cooperatewith universities on technology research and talent introduction, conduct the deep processingprojects of organic products, construct the organic agricultural products supply chain anddevelop modern organic agriculture.
