The world’s fate had been changed by Industry Revolution which deeply related with mining industry. Output of coal and iron had become a fundamental indicator to value the industrialized level of a nation. The rough modernized process of China had began since the middle of19th century, then stopped by Sino-Japanese War,1937-1945. A period between1850and1933was chosen. The outputs of coal and iron of the nation and each province in different year was estimated carefuly. Then the output indexes of China between1950and1933were compared with the one of Britain between1760and1843.This study was divided into5parts.Part1. Introduction. The value of this study was explained. Academic history was reviewed. Related concepts were defined. The study method was described.Part2. The situation of the coal and iron industry of China between1912and1933was discussed. A dateset was build. Some obvious errors in former study were corrected.Part3. The situation of the coal and iron industry of China between1850and1911was discussed. The estimate method was explained. All the provinces were classified with its output in a choosen year after1911. Some example provinces were choosen from each class. The situation of the coal and iron industry of the example province from the middle of Qing to the beginning of ROC was studied. The output dataset of this example and the class was then estimated.Part4. A dataset between1850and1933was build and transformed into index. The index was compared with the one of Britain between1760and1843.Part5. Summary of the study.
