With the accelerating integration of internet and finance industry in recent years, mobile payment is gaining momentum worldwide. On the one hand, the unity of the standard of mobile payment and the massive undertaking of3G networks have injected vitality to china’ mobile payment market. While on the other hand, the granting of financial licenses to third-party payment operators as well as the booming third-party payment platforms also give rise to competitions in domestic mobile payment market, bringing china’s commercial banks new challenges in developing mobile payment business.This paper, which is based on large quantities of researches on related domestic and foreign documents, as well as basic strategic management theories, first makes a clarification of the concept and classification of mobile payment and then reveals the significance of commercial banks in developing china’s mobile payment business. The author uses such strategic analyzing tools and methods as PEST, industry chain and SWOT to study the internal and external environment Chinese commercial banks are in to develop mobile payment. Through the study of SWOT, the author concludes that WO is the most ideal strategy to be taken. In the end, in terms of the strategic positioning and choices, the writer elaborates on the competitive strategies and functional strategies to be adopted by Chinese commercial banks in developing mobile payment business, and put forward concrete suggestions on strengthening cooperation,creating more access, promoting innovation and accumulating customers.By analyzing the internal and external environment Chinese commercial banks are in to develop mobile payment business, this paper, which is aimed at giving targeted proposals on the strategics and tactics, is part of an effort to transform the thinking about development of commercial banks, promote the innovation in technology and service and sharpen the competitive edge of commercial banks in mobile payment sector.
