With the development of information technology and globalization as well as the refinement of the social division of labor and the gradual acceleration of work pace, enterprises are facing increasingly fierce competition. Meanwhile, traditional mode of thinking is gradually challenged. Innovation behavior, which is novel and valuable, refers to a capability that can not only create new things and life styles, but tackle problems as well. It is a human universal but different from persons. The stimulation of employees’ innovation behaviors is the foundation of’creative management’ on organization side and is also the crucial resource to improve the competitiveness of corporations. A great many investigations to the law of’creative management’ on organization side has been done from the perspectives of organizational behavior, psychology and management. However, there are only immature researches on individual side aiming at tapping employees’ potential creativity. The era of knowledge economy signifies that human resource department will manage more knowledge workers, which are the carriers of knowledge and techniques and are not limited to the research and development. Compared with common staff, knowledge workers not only accept challenging tasks more willingly but also possess the knowledge and techniques that enable them to be more creative.Emotions widely exist in and have lasting impact on people’s lives and works. Since working is an important part of staff’s lives,the effect of their emotions should be concerned. Affect event theory (hereafter AET) suggests a chain—’characteristics of working environment-emotions-behaviors’which provides a theoretical direction for the research of emotional causes of behaviors. Based on AET, knowledge employees in Chinese situation are chosen as the subjects of this paper, aiming at verifying and extending this theory by studying the emotional causes of innovation behaviors.Emotion is the combination of multiple neural systems as well as the psychological and physiological reaction which is composed of internal experience and external performance caused by the input of specific neural systems both inside and outside (good or bad information in environmental situation). It is divided into positive and negative affections. Neither of them is the end of the continuous process of an emotional experience but they are two separate and independent dimensions. However, there are two levels between the experience and the expression of emotion which may cause completely different link modes due to the environmental or gender diversity along with their interaction. Whether emotions are positive or negative is affected by environment and genders affect its degree.According to correlation theories, the research in this paper investigates the working environmental and emotional mechanism elements that effect knowledge workers’ innovation behavior, considering emotion while working as intermediary and gender as regulation...
