Since China established formal diplomatic relations with Swiss in1950,the bilateral relations between China and Swiss in the political、economic、cultural and other fields have a rapid development. Especially in trade fields, Sino-Swiss bilateral trade volume increased from S6.8in1950to S26.3billion in2012.The process of the establishment of Sino-Swiss FTA has been steadily advancing. In December1974, China and Switzerland signed the "Sino-Swiss Trade Agreement," and established "Sino-Swiss Trade Mixed Committee". In January28,2011, China and Switzerland signed the " Memorandum of Understanding of About to start FTA negotiations between Sino-Swiss". The FTA talks was officially launched in Davos. So far the two countries have held nine negotiations. The two sides signed a high-level, wide-ranging agreement in Beijing in6th July2013..Whether the two countries can achieve sustainable development is a very important issue. So the paper aims to study the sustainable development of Sino-Swiss bilateral trade issues. Respectively, starting from the complementation of bilateral trade, trade competitiveness and trade development potential, integrated using traditional index calculation method and extended trade gravity model, hoping to promote Sino-Swiss economic and trade cooperation and the development of China-Switzerland FTA.This paper is divided into a total of five chapters:The first chapter is the introduction, presented research background and significance of the article, research methods and contents of this paper, as well as innovations that may exist in this article and inadequate.The second chapter is the theoretical basis and literature review. First, the theoretical basis includes not only traditional international trade theory, also introduced the new theory. Second, review summary of relevant research dynamic at home and abroad.The third chapter is the status of the trade between China and Switzerland. Separately from their respective trade development and the Sino-Swiss bilateral trade and economic development situation. We can find that Swiss and China’s foreign trade dependence is continuous improving and bilateral trade is increasing. Chinese trade with Switzerland, although the degree is low, but steadily; Switzerland degree of China’s trade is significantly improved.Chapter IV of the article launched a comprehensive in-depth analysis of "China-Swiss Foreign Trade Sustainable Development". In the analysis of complementation of bilateral trade, trade competition, the writer mainly use the Revealed Comparative Advantage Index (RCA), Trade Complementation Index (TCI), Trade Specialization Index (TSC) and the Export Similarity Index (EST) as analytical tools. The results showed that the two country currently have a strong complementation in technology-intensive and labor-intensive industries, complementation of other industries are not obvious; In competition, the Sino-Swiss bilateral trade competitiveness index began to rise after global financial crisis in2008, the future of bilateral trade will be increasingly strong competition. At the same time, About the analysis of the development potential of Sino-Swiss bilateral trade, the author used the extended trade gravity model, draw a conclusion that actual trade flows between the two countries is far less than ideal trade flows, the bilateral trade has a great potential.The fifth chapter proposed a series of suggestions for promoting sustainable development of Sino-Swiss bilateral trade and economic relations. Trade between the two countries should make full use of complementary features, play their respective comparative advantages, while focusing on the existence of trade competition and strive to improve their own industries, product competitiveness, and promote better development of bilateral trade. And the two countries should also continue to explore new areas of cooperation to make a win-win situation.
