Free trade zone is a specific economic regions defined strictly separated from otherareas,which is inside the territory while outside the customs. Usually, a sovereign countryor region set up it in order to achieve certain economic purpose. It has characteristics asfollows: closed in isolation, the commissioner, full of freedom and preferential policy, etc.Free trade port zone has a important role in terms of Rapid integration into the internationalmarket and Strengthening multilateral cooperation. More and more countries are activelyestablishing a free trade zone, with its perfect system policy and advanced mechanism, soas to be the first to occupy the international market.Free trade port area in our country draw lessons from the advanced experience ofinternational free trade port area, combined with China’s actual conditions and at the sametime it is the most close to the policy of free trade zone in form mode. After years ofdevelopment, the Free trade port area has made great achievements, becoming an importantform of China’s opening to the outside world and a new growth point of the development ofexport-oriented economy. However, its limitations and shortcomings also graduallyrevealed. In the field of higher level and wider, broader participation in internationaleconomic cooperation and communication is the trend.2013China (Shanghai) free tradezone is established. It is conform to the new trend of development of the global economyand trade. Establishing a free trade area is a bold and wise choice.The topic of this paper is based on the international economic competition, domesticdeepening reform and free trade zone across the country starting construction boom andDongjiang Bonded Port Area function development.The geographical condition of DFTP is superior, complete supporting facilities, goodindustrial foundation. It is preliminary already have the basic conditions of development offree trade port zone. The transformation of DFTP into a free trade zone is not onlyadvantageous to the local economic development, but also can lead to the development ofhinterland economy.This article mainly uses the method of case analysis and comparative analysis. Atfirst,it introduces the concept of free trade area in our country, FTA and their functions.Selecting three international free trade zone, including Hong Kong, to introduce andanalysis summarized successful experience. Then, it makes contrast between free trade areaand the FTZ. So we can see the transition is the trend and necessity. On this basis, according to the situation and the development of the DFTP, it uses SWOT to analysis itsstrengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Finally, policy recommendations are putforward.
