The Efficiency Evaluation Of Construction Industry Based On Three-stage DEA Model

The construction industry plays an important role in the development of the nationaleconomy, which has an effect on economy, power source, environment and so on in socialdevelopment. Therefore, solving the problem of how to improve the production efficiency tostrengthen the competitive power in the international market in the condition of marketeconomy and then acquiring the success in the fierce international competition is veryimportant.There are five parts in my article. The first one is realizing the background of theconstruction industry in our nation and the aim and the significance of my article, and thencarding the result of the domestic and overseas about efficiency evaluation and constructionindustry efficiency. Finally, I will put forward to my research content and research thinkingand innovation. The second one is defining the efficiency and the efficiency in theconstruction industry and introducing the basic theory and the evaluation model of threestages’ DEA. The third part is selecting the input variable, the output variable and externalenvironment variable, in the foundation of which to understand the situation of theconstruction industry in our nation. The fourth one is acquiring and analyzing the researchresult from the view of the whole change and the difference of the region. The last part is toputting forward to the scientific and reasonable advice according to the research result.Through the consequence, I found that external environment and random factor have aremarkable influence on the production efficiency in the construction industry in our nation,so it is necessary to distinguish the external environment factor, the random factor and themanagement factor. In the external environment factor, the GDP per capita, industry structure,the ratio of illiteracy, the rate of fixed assets investment, science and technology expenditureand capital per capita have a positive effect on the production efficiency in the constructionindustry in our nation, but the ratio of state-owned property and the ratio of foreigninvestment have no effect on it. The technical efficiency, the pure technical efficiency and thescale efficiency in whole construction industry appear ascend trend in the year2003to2012.The efficiency of construction industry of the central section and eastern area exceeds thewestern part. The efficiency difference of region hinders the enhancing of productionefficiency of the construction industry in some extent. Therefore, the author think that adjusting the industry structure, accelerating to changing the way of the development ofconstruction industry, importing the advanced technology, accelerating the stated-ownedsystem reform, optimizing the industry structure, reducing the gap between every region andimproving the management level is to promote the enhance of the production efficiency of theconstruction industry in our nation.
