The Studies On Development Of White Lotus Industry In Chuzhou On The Basis Of Agriculture Industry Chain

The white lotus is a superior agricultural product in Lishui, Zhejiang province. It has along history of planting, and it’s the main source of income for many local famers. In the past,famers adopted traditional planting way for a long time, so the way needs to change anddevelop according to modern agricultural production. At the same time, there are lots ofproblems on the development of white lotus industry, low production level, outmodedcultivation and processing technologies, weak agricultural infrastructure, scientific researchefforts, lack of deep processing ability and demonstration effect of the large-scale leadingenterprises, etc. To promote the white lotus industry, it needs to improve the development ofmechanisms, extend the industrial chain, increase product added value and improve themarket competitiveness. It plays an important role on promoting agriculture development,increasing employment opportunities for farmers and increase their income.The Chuzhou white lotus is the research object in this thesis, by summarizing domesticand international agricultural industry chain theories, it discussed the physical geographyconditions and agricultural development status of the Liandu District, Lishui City, and itdeeply analyzed the problems in the industrial cultivation and industrial development ofwhite lotus. It described the good physical geography conditions, planting advantages, marketpotential, brand influence and strong support of government on development of the whitelotus by use of data collection and field investigation, but it also found that the cultivation issmall-scale, yield is low, main product is primary, product is simple, it is mainly local sales，market share is low and so on. According to the strategic objectives of white lotus of LianduDistrict, it gave some proposals on development the white lotus from the points of enterprisesand cooperatives, government and other departments.This thesis found the bottlenecks in the development of white lotus industry, specificallyanalyzed the issues involved in various aspects of the industry chain, so as to find advices ofimproving the overall competitiveness of white lotus industry, some advices are following:(a)construct industrial bases of white lotus industry, build scale management system;(b)promote deep processing technology, increase white lotus additional value;(c)integrate market system, strengthen the sales channel construction, establish the white lotus brandimage;(d)the government should support and guide the development of white lotus industrypositively, develop white lotus competitive industries and cultivate key enterprises;(e)rely onthird-party logistics, standardize market liquidity, improve the circulation system.
