With the deepening of globalization, international cooperation between countriescontinues to strengthen, as well as the competition and cooperation among industries.Enterprises tend to establish competitive cooperation with their competitors. Thenew round of international pattern changes brought by the financial crisis in2008triggered the adjustment of the development strategies in many countries, focusingmore on the real economy again. To take the dominant position in the new round ofthe international competition in science and technology, many countries are engagingfor developing low energy consumption, high technology industry. In2010, by takingthem as Strategic Emerging Industries, China also planed to develop seven industries, which include Energy Conservation and Environment Protection industry, NewGeneration IT industries, Biomedical industry, Modern Manufacturing Technologyand Equipment industry, New Energy Industry, New Material industry, New EnergyAutomobile industry. The emerging industries, with high investment and high risk, and the characteristics of high technology, are requiring a forward higher level ofinternational competition and cooperation, which makes no one can gaining marketvalue without international competition and cooperation in the future. However,China has been in an inferior position in international competition and cooperation, sowe can only get a limited technology progress from it. In the process of thedevelopment of China’s strategic emerging industry, how to deal with thecontradiction between competition and cooperation, and how to seek the effectivecompetition modes to really enhance the competitiveness, are important tasks in thenew round of international competition. Through theoretical and empirical analysis, this thesis, stating clearly the relationship between competition and cooperation ofChina’s strategic emerging industries, putting forward some cooperation modes forthe purpose of enhancing the competitiveness, has important significances boththeoretically and realistically. This thesis is composed of6chapters: In the first and second chapter, itanalyzes related literatures and theories. In the third chapter, it describes and analyses the current situation of international and domestic emerging industries on the regionaldistribution, concentration ratio and the degree of competition and cooperation, findsout that the emerging industries distribute unevenly and concentrated. The level ofcooperation of China’s strategic emerging industry is upgrading, and China prefers thepartners from developed countries and regions. The fourth chapter carries on anempirical analysis of the present international competition and cooperation situationof China’s strategic emerging industry by using Haken Model, finds out that thecompetition subsystem is the order parameter of evolution of co-opetition system ofChina’s strategic emerging industry, and produce synergistic effect betweencompetition and cooperation has not existed so far. Besides, the competitiveness ofdomestic enterprises play a leading role in the development of China’s strategicemerging industry. The fifth chapter analysis the optimal enterprise competitionmodes from two dimensions of value source link and complementary types, then itfocus on describing two modes by using case study. Finally, the sixth chaptersummarizes the full thesis, and put forward the corresponding countermeasures andsuggestions from the government and industry aspects. This thesis may have some innovative points as follows: firstly, it introducessynergetic method into the analysis of co-opetition issues, which enhances theinternal logical consistency of research methods and research theory (theory ofco-opetition). Secondly, it selects the ratio of exports by domestic funded enterprisesas the variable of competition subsystem and the ratio of assets of foreign-fundedenterprises as the variable of cooperation subsystem, using Haken Model to identifythe dominant force in evolution of co-opetition in China’s strategic emerging industry.Thirdly, it finds out the optimal coopetition modes by adopting theory and caseanalysis.
