When the global financial crisis having continuous influence, the economic is havinga volatile situation, and commercial banks are faced to more and more competitivepressures and risks.At this situation,it is the key issue for commercial banks to improvetheir management and profitability to gain sustainable development.Thereby,it is theurgent problem for commercial banks that how we can evaluate the performancescientifically and rationally, and encourage managers and staff to create more economicvalue through the performance evaluation systems.EVA performance evaluation system, firstly used in1980s, while just at the initialphase in our country, is studied and applied to more mature abroad. SPD Bank, as one ofthe outstanding representative of joint-stock commercial banks, is faced to more and morecompetitive pressures. So it is vitally important for SPD Bank to improve its profitabilitythrough a new performance evaluation system—EVA performance evaluation system.This passage does case study on how the EVA performance evaluation system used inSPD Bank through comparative study and data analysis. After indicating the currentsituation and problems of SPD Bank’s performance evaluation system nowadays, it focuson how different the application of traditional performance evaluation system and EVAfor SPD Bank is, by use of comparative analysis. And then it does forward somereasonable suggestions how to establish and apply the EVA performance evaluationsystem at SPD Bank in order to the practicality and effectiveness.
