Imbalance between environment and economic development posed a severechallenge to human society. A series of environmental and ecological problems,not only severely restricts the sustainability of social and economic development,but also pose a threat to human survival. China, a developing country, faces twokinds of pressure at this stage: domestic pressure and international pressure.Rapid industrialization and urbanization accompanied by large-scale naturalresource consumption, and also brings a great deal of pressure on the domesticenvironment. With the improvement of China’s international status, the scope andthe number of international environmental conventions signed by China willcontinue to expand, which means more international environmental obligations.Domestic and international environmental pressures continue to urge Chinato strengthen environmental management efforts, followed by worries of China’seconomic growth in the Yangtze River Delta textile industry, that is, whetherenvironmental regulations will affect the economic growth of the textile industryin the Yangtze River Delta. In this context, it has a very important theoretical andpractical significance to study the influence of environmental regulation on thecompetitiveness of the textile industry in Yangtze River Delta, and to explorebalanced patterns of economic growth and environment.The writer, from a different perspective, provides references and suggestionsfor the government’s environmental regulations through theoretical and empiricalanalysis of the impact of environmental regulation and competitiveness of thetextile industry research; in order to adequately address environmental issueswhile the government is making policies, but also to minimize the negative impact on the international competitiveness of the textile industry. Researchersfrom a different perspective, through theoretical and empirical analysis of theimpact of environmental regulation and competitiveness of the textile industryresearch, provide references and suggestions for the government’s environmentalregulations, environmental regulations in order to Government policiesadequately address environmental issues, but also to minimize the negativeimpact on the international competitiveness of the textile industry. This paper,summarizes the relevant literature of theoretical analysis and empirical anal ysisof domestic and foreign scholars on the impact of environmental regulation onthe competitiveness of the textile industry, aiming to promote domestic-relatedresearch, and the sustainable development of the textile industry in the YangtzeRiver Delta.
