With rapid development of the economics and continuous improvement of people’sliving standards, consumers require to be provided products and services with higherquality. In order to meet the customers’ demand quickly, warehousing industry developsfast, making more and more warehouses and distribution centers appear and operationalefficiency more and more important. As an important part of warehouse management, orderpicking efficiency affects the operations of warehouses and distribution centers deeply. Andthe storage location in a warehouse affects order picking efficiency.In this thesis, YB (Tianjin) Company warehouse is studied as the objective and thefeasibility of slotting optimization is discussed. First, the paper makes a brief introductionof related theories on slotting optimization. Then, after warehouse introduction andanalyzing current situation, the storage location is found unreasonable and needs to beoptimized. Next, under the class-based storage strategy, this paper proposes the minimumhuman energy expenditure caused by order picking as the optimization objective anddetermines the relevant constraints to build the optimization model, and applies the greedyalgorithm to solve this problem fast, achieving the slotting optimization solutions. Finally,the comparison between human energy expenditure caused by order picking verifies thevalidity of this model and achieves good results.In this paper, by combining the relevant knowledge of slotting optimization andapplying it to YB (Tianjin) Company warehouse, a feasible way is provided for its slottingoptimization to improve its efficiency, improving warehouse operational efficiency evenfurther. This study has reference value for the same style of companies.
