With China’s economic transition and structural adjustment,Informal employment hasmade rapid progress and has become the dominant force creating jobs in the labor market,which caused a high degree of government departments and experts concerned and lots ofuseful researches. Using2011CHNS latest statistics in this paper and basing on the quantileregression and decomposition method, we made a comparative analysis of wage differencesbetween formal employment and informal employment. Also, we focused on the distribution ofmale and female informal employment throughout the wage differences and led to the reasonsfor this difference. The results showed that: no matter formal employment or informalemployment, gender wage differences presented "floor effect", but the former is less than thelatter in the rate of return of education. Human capital of male informal employment wassignificant in the median and high-scoring segment, while female informal employmentsignified in low-scoring segment. Generally, men had more advantages than women in humancapital advantage.15.4%of informal employment wage gap between men and women wascaused by the characteristics of individual human capital.84.6%difference was due to genderdiscrimination. Gender wage differences of informal employment showed a downward trendafter upward in the wage distribution. Among that, wage differences due to sex discriminationshowed the same trend with its relative proportion growing, and the part caused bycharacteristic differences showed decreasing.
