“String style "development model is a traditional new product development model. In thecase of the stability of the market, this development model can be effective. However, under therapid changes of the market today, it is often seems useless and exposed many problems, suchas: the development cycle is too long, high research and development costs and other issues.How to solve the development problems of new products for the modern enterprise and how tooutside the limitations of the traditional model will become an important question.The article first analyzes Fook Yum ’s new product development model,summaries it as thetraditional "string-style" development model and indicates its problems,which restrictedproducts share in the domestic market and new product development process, and indicates theyneed for a new solution.Secondly, relative to the traditional development mode, concurrent engineering theory isanother development theory on the basis of its development theories. The article analyzes theactual cases combining with the concurrent engineering theory, and indicates that Fook YumFood Group Limited effectively solved a series of problems for new product development afterthey used the concurrent engineering theory instead of the traditional development model.Finally, with the actual situation of the company, the article propose specificrecommendations for concurrent engineering to improve new product development, whichcreate an organic combination of the operate in parallel and the information technologyindustry in new product development..Due to the different economic strength and technological capabilities in different sectorsvaries, small business should consider their own circumstances within their means but shouldnot apply other enterprises’ development model mechanically when they use the concurrentengineering theory to improve an enterprise’s new product development.
