The development and implementation is the key process to introduction PLM. In this dissertation, a kind of generalized process of development and implementation for PLM was abstracted. And in view of the development and implementation for PLM software system, a kind of incremental-convergent method was brought forward. The core of the method is the IPMM(lntegrated Product Meta Model, IPMM), and the content, principle, method of modeling for IPMM are studied comprehensively and deeply. Associated with the application project, these theory and technology were validated. The main works of the dissertation are following:Chapter 1 gives the background of the research .the shortages of present research were proposed, and the research content and the architecture of thedissertation were presented.Chapter 2 gives the generalized process of development and implementation for PLM, For the project preparation and management of budget and risk, this chapter brought forward the iterative method for analyzing the target-realization. For the solution, this chapter researched the the PLM business principle and reference architecture. Then the project phase-milestone model was researched for PLM project management.The process blueprint pilot the customers to learn their requirements and goal, schedule the phases, control the budget and quality.Chapter 3 brought forward the incremental-convergent method for PLM software system. The definition and content of incremental-convergent method was analyzed. The process model of the method was established and formalized. And the characteristic of this method was analysed and detailed.The core of the incremental-convergent method was IPMM, Chapter 4 researched the IPMM comprehensively. This chapter constructed a series of Object chains of IPMM elements with OO(Object Oriented, OO) method that was the content of IPMM. While as the driven model, the IPMM should not only meet the business requirements, but also follow the semantic criterion. This chapter built the four layers meta-model framework by using of meta-model mechanism for the modeling of IPMM.The reused and model transform of IPMM was studied.Chapter 5 researched the characteristic of the IPMM and the instance IPM at the state of the system running. The evolvement of the product information model was studied, the ORM embodied in the IPMM was discussed, and the arithmetic of the ORM was given. The product structure and configuration management was researched based on the ORM for validating the IPMM, The research focused on the product structure configuration, configuration identification, product structure mapping in different state and configuration baseline technology.In chapter 6, the application of the method of development and implementation for PLM was presented in different field. The coal Pulverizer is the main product of ShanHai Heavy Machinery Plant Co., LTD, and the suit is the key product of Ningbo Younger Co., LTD. In view of these two different products and PLM project, this chapter validated the generalized process of development and implementation for PLM, the constructing and using of IPMM, and validated the incremental-convergent method for PLM software system based on the IPMM.In chapter 7, the achievements and innovation of this dissertation are summarized, and a prospect for the future work was given.
