With the change of the market, productsof modern manufacturing enterprises are more and more thinking andpractice how to implement mass customization production in their supplychain.The concept of lean management is an advanced manufacture organizationmethod which came from lean production. But when we face to masscustomization, it still needs more study about how to implement it intopractice. Lean production has been carried out for many years, but in the faceof mass customization, also met with new challenges. So, in this thesis, based on a simple assembly line modification practice in3M, wish is could be ameaningful exploration and experience for further similar modification formass customization.With the help of lean production theory and tools, the thesis begins formthe product redesign to fit the requirement of mass customization. Then studythe reform of the current assembly line and then extend to some parts ofsupply chain management like inventory control and purchasing management.Finally the thesis provides a total solution of assembly line modification tosatisfy the requirement of mass customization.On the base of lots of mass customization and lean production researchresults, computer technology was more been introduction into supply chainmanagement. With the computer as a tool, a number of elements such asdemand forecasting, customer orders, production planning, raw material andfinished goods inventory and so on was been integrated by computer. Thecomputer system tries to treat and optimize these data with lean concept sothat it cans ne delivery to each department in supply chain. The results are thesupply chain became higher product quality, lower cost and higher flexibility.
