Research Onchongqing Urban System Under Five Functional Areas Perspective

Today if a region wants to have an overall development of its economy society, it should not only counts on its powerful economic strength of the center of the city, but also its reasonable urban system is the basic condition for its comprehensive development. With the division of Chongqing’s five functional areas, people has proposed new requirements for every town’s development. Chongqing’s urban system structure will definitely undergo significant changes. Thus, this thesis studies the currently existing main problems of Chongqing’s urban system structure from this perspective, and I also give some suggestions to optimize it.Firstly, the thesis gives a detailed explanation of the involved quantitative research methods. It gives a summary of the urban system study of home and abroad, and it also gives a dissertation of the core concepts and the main basic theories of urban system.Secondly, the thesis gives a comprehensive discussion of the development process, scale structure, spatial structure e and functional structure of Chongqing’s urban system.(1) In the analysis of the development process of Chongqing’s urban system, through the summary of the former Municipality and the Municipality of the urban system, it turns out that Chongqing’s urban system expands quickly and its structure changes greatly.(2) In the analysis of the scale structure of Chongqing’s urban system, I analyze the population scale structure of Chongqing’s urban areas and study Chongqing’s urban g system and the five functional urban system scale structure with first-degree analysis. It shows that there are great differences between the Chongqing’s urban system urban population scale and all the other regions in first-degree.(3) In the analysis of the spatial structure of Chongqing’s urban system, I analyze the population density of urban system and the rural density and study the spatial correlation dimension of Chongqing’s urban system, it shows that it is uneven between Chongqing’s urban system population and the rural spatial distribution. All the urban spaces are in a linear distribution.(4) In the analyze of the functional structure of Chongqing’s urban system, I analyze industry structure and industry employment population structure of Chongqing’s urban system. And on the basis of it, I estimated the specialization degree of Chongqing’s urban system function with Nelson Function Statistics Analysis. It turns out that it is quite different among the three industrial output value and structure of Chongqing’s urban system, the proportion of the employment population of various functional departments and functional specialization degree.Once more, through the analyses of the development, the scale structure, the spatial structure and the functional structure of Chongqing’s urban system, it draws that there are three problems existing in Chongqing’s urban system:(1) The first-degree of the core town is high, and the population scale structure is imbalance.(2) The spatial structure is not reasonable, and the spatial correlation is low.(3) The division of urban function is unknown, and the industry convergence is serious. The thesis also studies the factors which Chongqing’s urban system. And it draws that the available land resources, the economy development, the urban development, the traffic development and the policy are the main factors which affects Chongqing’s urban system structure.Finally, on the basis of the bove analyses, I proposed optimization suggestions for the urban system’s scale structure, spatial structure and the functional structure. Chongqing’s urban sytem scale structure shoud be optimized from the following three aspects, that is, controlling the population size of Chongqing’s first towns to expand the leading role; actively cultivating large cities to make up the system fault state; promoting small and medium size cities to speed up the development of small cities. Chongqing’s urban system spatial structure should be optimized from the following aspects, that is, adjusting the population spatial structure to improve the spatial structure system; improving the transportation network structure to achieve transportation network coverage. Functional structure of Chongqing’s urban system should be optimized from the following two aspects, that is, speeding up industrial restructuring and upgrading and optimizing three industrial structure percentage; doing well in town’s function orientation and focusing on urban function’s divergent and complementary.
