Research On The Relationship Between Firm Size And Technological Innovation Capability

Currently, the global economy is in the background of the financial crisis, enterprises are facing more difficult living environment.With the market more competitive, enterprises are put forward higher requirements.Therefore, enterprises are facing both enormous risks and challenges, but also an important opportunity to corporate commitment to technology innovation, as the main body of technological innovation, Enterprises should strengthen technological innovation, enhance technological innovation, develop advanced enterprises with modern innovation,in order to get their own survival and development.As a result, competitiveness of Chinese enterprises in the international market can be enhanced, which is one of the important ways contributing to China’s economic further healthy and rapid development.Since Schumpeter put forward Schumpeter hypothesis, scholars have studied on the relationship between firm size and technological innovation capacity for a long time.They come to different conclusions. This paper summarizes the the relationship between enterprise scale and technological innovation capability and then proposes the relationship between firm size and technological innovation capacity based on different types of factor intensity.In the empirical analysis, this paper selects the enterprise sales as an alternative indicator of firm size and the ability of technology innovation resources into innovation,innovation implementation capacity and ability to commercialize innovation as an alternative indicator of technological innovation capability after the global principal component analysis. Then, this paper do the empirical on the base of the collected 2008-2012 data sample of listed companies in accordance with the labor-intensive, capital intensive and technology-intensive respectively. With the study of the three types of effects of enterprise scale on technological innovation capability, this paper proposes tips to promote the technological innovation activities from the perspective of firms and government.
