Fujian province, with a relatively better basis of natural resources and ecological environment, has a higher agricultural productivity in the traditional sense. In the background of constructing the Ecological Civilization, the scientific evaluation of the agricultural ecosystem productivity will be conductive to the agricultural structure adjustment and optimization, and will provide a scientific basis for the sustainable development of agriculture in Fujian province.Agricultural ecosystem productivity consists of four parts, i.e., the plant primary productivity, the animal secondary productivity (biological productivity), the farmer economic productivity, and the ecological productivity loaded by the function of agricultural ecosystem service. Thus this paper probes into the current situation of agricultural ecosystem productivity in Fujian province on the basis of energy theory and ecosystem service theory by fully consulting the literature and data on the above matter, and the main results are as follows:(1) The primary productivity of agricultural ecosystem in Fujian province has gradually increased. The total energy flow of agricultural ecosystem has risen from 4.43×1022sej to 4.85×1022sej during the years from 1995 to 2012. Among them, the non-renewable industrial auxiliary energy value covers 73.40%, which is 62% higher than the average in China. However, the long-term input of fossil energy contributes to the imbalance of soil nutrition and destruction of soil physical and chemical properties, which becomes a bottleneck restricting the sustainable improvement of agricultural ecosystem productivity in Fujian province.(2) The secondary productivity of agricultural ecosystem in Fujian province grows rapidly too. In 2010, the energy output value of animal husbandry accounted for 45.16%of the total, and has improved people’s living standard. However, the large scale of animal husbandry is easy to cause the forage-livestock imbalance and be harm for the coupling mechanism of agriculture and animal husbandry system. Meanwhile, the energy output proportion of aquatic products is low, which shows that the fishery resource in Fujian province has a great development potential.(3) The ultimate value of ecological productivity in the evaluation of agricultural ecosystem service is 18 times of the value the traditional market evaluates. It shows that the value of agricultural ecosystem service exists objectively but is not admitted, resulting in the Dilemma of Three Issues Concerning Agriculture implying the plight of neo-classical economics. The low level of water and soil conservation in the agricultural ecosystem confirms the fossil agriculture’s offset to the agricultural ecosystem service.(4) The population in Fujian province surpasses the capacity of renewable environment resources. The overload value is 1.77 times. The actual income of farmers has somewhat grown, but the system energy input value is very low, which shows that the income of farmers is on the basis of excessive use of ecological environment and natural resources. The study in this paper shows that the agricultural productivity of Fujian province in the traditional sense depends on the large consumption of natural resources and the destruction of the ecological environment. If it goes on like this, the function of agricultural ecosystem in Fujian province will be fully degenerated and lost, and it will be difficult to achieve the sustainable development of agriculture. So the author puts forward some suggestions as follows:to protect arable land; to increase the financial input and implement various policies to support the farmers; to expand the construction of forests, farmland’s water conservancy facilities, and farmland’s shelterbelt; to increase the investment in R&D in agriculture section to improve agricultural science and technology; to promote the adjustment of agriculture and rural industry; to improve the management of grassroots organizations and guide the investment in fixed assets; to increase the intensity of industry’s nurturing agriculture; and to optimize the regional distribution of agriculture and vigorously develop modern agriculture and characteristic agriculture.
