The Evaluation Of Chinese Star Hotels’ Efficiency Based On DEA Method

China-star hotel is the mainstay of the hotel industry. Its operating efficiency will not only affect the development of the hotel industry in our country, but also affect the development of Chinese tourism industry. As the investment scale of China-star hotel continuously expanding, the degree of competition in the industry is growing. In addition, affected by the environment of slowing overall macro-economic growth and against waste, the beneficial result of star hotels presents the downward trend. But the key to improving beneficial result of star hotels is to enhance the hotels’operating efficiency. In this context, the relevant study of efficiency evaluation of star hotel and efficiency optimization attracted academic attention. Research on the basis of our predecessors, this paper constructs the evaluation index system of star hotel efficiency, analyzing the efficiency of star hotels based on the time-series angle and regional angle, identifying factors that influence the efficiency of star hotels by empirical analysis, taking Chinese 31 provinces as examples. In order to correctly understand the efficiency of the current situation of China-star hotel industry and its influencing factors and take specific measures to make China-star hotels become better. The paper divides the study in six parts as follows.The first part is the introduction. It expounds about the research background and research significance, literature review, research ideas and methods, research and innovation and features.The second part is the relevant theoretical foundation and the definition of important concepts. It defines the concept and elaborates the theory of efficiency and the methods of efficiency evaluation.The third part is the evaluation model and the construction of index system. This section describes the data envelopment analysis and Malmquist productivity index and builds efficiency evaluation system in accordance with the principles of index selection.The fourth part is the analysis of the efficiency of star hotels. This section uses the DEA model to measure the operating efficiency of star hotels and uses Malmquist index and the index of technological progress and efficiency change to measure the dynamic changes of star hotels’efficiency in 2011-2013.The fifth part is the analysis of influencing factors of star hotels and the countermeasures. This section analyses the external and internal factors affecting the efficiency of star hotels and uses Tobit regression model to analyses factors affecting the efficiency of star hotels. Finally, the efficiency of our proposed star hotels optimization suggestions based on empirical results.The sixth part is the conclusion and prospect research. This section summarizes the main conclusions of this article and points out the limitations of this study and proposes the further study.
