An Empirical Research On Spillover Speed Of Open-source Knowledge And Its Influence Factors

The development of science and technology has more and more important influence on the world. The study on the development of science and technology and its external nature is also more and more. Early studies are mostly from the angle of technology spillover in patent. In addition, starting from the source point of knowledge, studying the relationship between the factors of economic development and its effect is also a good starting point.In this paper, we study open source knowledge overflow rate in countries, research keywords of papers in academic journals and its international spillovers. First of all, we review the new growth theory and other related economic theories and knowledge spillover and summarize the influencing factors of knowledge spillover and knowledge spillover, measurement methods. Previous studies to measure knowledge spillovers usually use total factor productivity or the use of patent data, ignoring the academic papers as an important channel of knowledge spillovers. Therefore, we adopt a new method, using the paper as a knowledge spillover channel and keywords in paper as the carriers of knowledge spillovers, extract information from the paper, to measure the speed of knowledge spillover. We adopt the method of questionnaire, research the time delay in eight subjects:Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Engineering and Economics. Get the overflow rate of different countries in many fields, we further analyze and compare the knowledge spillover rate in the same subject in different countries and it in different countries in various disciplines.Secondly, we also study the influence factors of knowledge spillover rate. We divide the influencing factors into the subject factors and external environmental factors, making corresponding refinement in two different areas and detailed explanation on the mechanism of the effect. What’s more, the indicators are selected, the data is selected, and the indexes are statistical description and the correlation between each index analysis is made. According to the data structure as well as the independent variables and the dependent relationship between variables, we use the fixed effect estimation of panel data analysis and regression method, to make regression analysis of its affecting factors of all knowledge and the eight disciplines of knowledge spillover respectively.Our results show that, the external economic environment factors, per capita GDP, the level of urbanization and the level of education, the population as the factors of human capital are the most important determinant of the rate of open source knowledge spillover. Different factors in different disciplines have different influence. The only exception is, the level of economic development affects Economics not significantly. We detailed analyze the reason on the influence of these factors. At the end of this paper, we also put forward conclusions and suggestions.
