Water resource is one of the most important resources in the field of nature or society. Both people’s daily life and production are inseparable from the water. With the rapid development of people’s living standard and production efficiency, the water demand becomes more and more larger so that the water conflicts being more and more acuter: droughts and floods occur frequently, water environment problems become serious and the relationship between human and water tends to become more and more nervous. River and lake as the main carrier of water resources, play an exceedingly important role in the human-water relationship. Furthermore, the implementation of the strategy of Interconnected River System Network(IRSN) can improve the harmony degree between human and water. Therefore, research on the coordinated relationship between the Interconnected River System Network and Economic and social Development is quite urgent and necessary. According to the international and national achievements about human-water relationship, Interconnected River System Network and the concept of coordination, the main research contents of this paper include the following aspects:(1) Analyzing the correlation between Interconnected River System Network and the Economic and social Development. Based on the connotation and characteristics of Interconnected River System Network and Economic and Social Development, the correlation was analyzed from qualitative and quantitative methods. In the terms of qualitative, guiding ideology, theoretical basis, technical support and mechanism were studied respectively; In the terms of quantitative, the index system of were built respectively, and then the correlation between Interconnected River System Network and Economy-social Development was analyzed with the method of canonical correlation analysis.(2) Building the coordination degree calculation model between Interconnected River System Network and Economic and Social Development. Firstly, the system coordination theory was generalized and summarized and the relationship among the match, coordination and harmony was expounded. The indexes in this paper divided into two types: the objective indexes(calculated by average method) and subjective indexes(calculated by standardized method). Besides of these methods, this paper also combined the method of analytic hierarchy process(AHP) and entropy weight to determine the weight of the index; then built up the matching degree calculation model of Interconnected River System Network and Economic and Social Development and the calculation model of comprehensive evaluation index, finally, obtained the coordination degree calculation model by coupling them.(3) Analyzing the characteristics of the spatio-temporal change of Coordination Degree between the Interconnected River System Network and Economic and Social Development. Based on the current analysis methods of spatio-temporal change character; the methods of annual change rate, center of gravity theory, and standard deviation ellipse were used to elaborate the characteristics of spatio-temporal change of coordination degree comprehensively in this paper.(4) Taking Henan province as study area, 18 cities of Henan province were studied as the case research. The canonical correlation, coordination degree and the characteristics of spatio-temporal change of Interconnected River System Network and Economic and Social Development, in Henan in 2001, 2007 and 2013 were analyzed using SPSS and ARCGIS software.
