Research On Political Participation Of Farmers In The Process Of New-type Urbanization

Free and comprehensive development of human is the lofty pursuit of Marxism. After the founding of new China, especially since the reform and opening up, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, China has made great progress on socialistic political development: a complete set of political theory and political system has been gradually formed, and the country’s democratic degree and citizens’ political rights have been remarkably improved. The new urbanization, featured in the core of “People-oriented", is a significant and profound social change, is the upgraded version to build China’s future economy in following twenty or thirty years, is the only way to achieve socialistic modernization, is the inevitable requirement of all-round social progress, is the main direction of the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The political participation of farmers is an important symbol to measure a nation’s political development level. New type of urbanization is a process of agricultural population emigrating from the countryside to the towns, of which the purpose is to let more farmers equally benefit from the massive construction of modern urban public services. Therefore, as a researcher of politics, there is certain theoretical significance and practical significance to learn and do a research on political participation of farmers in the process of new-type urbanization from the perspective of political science.The farmer is the main force of the new urbanization construction, and also an important part in promoting new urbanization. The farmers’ orderly participation in political life and full use of the political rights in the process of new urbanization is not only one of the objectives of political development in our country, also one of the objectives of the new type of urbanization construction. At present, there are some new changes in the farmers’ political participation in the new urbanization, which show some new characteristics. Using the methods of literature research, survey and case analysis, the author studied the present situation of farmers’ political participation, together with the main difficulties and challenges they have been faced in the process of new-type urbanization. Then, the author studied the urbanization development in foreign countries with the method of comparison analysis. Taking typical countries as examples, the thesis tried to summary the experiences and lessons from both the positive and negative aspects, and the comprehensive enlightenment to expand the orderly political participation of farmers in the process of urbanization. Through the new urbanization construction featured in the core of “People-oriented", the material basis for the farmers’ political participation will be strengthened, the socialistic core values promoted, the peasants’ political quality and the standard of political cultures improved, the system of community level self-governance and other related systems perfected, the path to citizen’s orderly political participation expanded, the way and platform of farmers political participation enriched, the social security system optimized, the migrant of farmers’ freedom and equality to enjoy all the legal rights ensured, the social fairness and justice safeguarded, and the political stability maintained. To be concluded, it will not only benefit the improvement of China’s farmers’ political rights and the degree of democracy, also comprehensive, coordinated and healthy development of the new-type urbanization.
