Development Of The Longan Industry And Countermeasures In Sishui Town, Gaozhou County

Yield production of longan in China has always been the top from worldwide, while in the domestic market, total production in Guangdong Province keeps ahead of all with its western part bringing maximum yield every year. Thus, the Southern China area plays an important role to both the international and the domestic longan industry.Longan cultivation in Gaozhou County in Guangdong Province has a long history, the region is located in the northern latitudes of litchi producing areas, differing from other regions, its unique advantage goes to the late maturing varieties.Considering the country, province, city, origin, and production yield, this paper reviewed longan’s development and related research from home and abroad, by multi analyzing longan’s industrial advantage in Gaozhou, conclusion could be drawn that the bottleneck in developing its longan industry consists in single breed structure, scattered production,narrowed brand sales, deep processing and so on. Therefore, related countermeasures and suggestions are accordingly proposed. Starts with the basic theory of regional industrial economy, through analyzing the form and characteristics of longan producing areas,production and trade, it’s proposed that strengthen the longan industry should develop economies of scale, extension and implementation of diversified sales channels, improve the industry service system, deepen the deep processing and the brand construction and so on. Against the background of the current situation of the development of longan industry in Guangdong province, in the form of questionnaire and interview to the west of Gaozhou county, say Sishui Town, the production, sale, processing, import and export trade of longan had been carried on the thorough investigation and analysis, as well as from the professional investors, game action between market and government, and the problems to be further analyzed and discussed in development of longan industry. On this basis, some corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are putting forward so as to increase Gaozhou’s fruit growers’ income and to promote new situation and sustainable development of the national longan industry with provided reference.
