Study On The Thoughts Of Communication In "The Economic Manuscripts Of 1857-1858" And Its Contemporary Significance

The question of the relationship between the communication and human development is not only an important theory in the study of marxist philosophy, but also is a pratical and important problem that needs to further resolved in the contemporary human practice. Communication as the fundamental form of existence for human beings, is the primary content and the precondition of social practice. Its concrete social form and the change of expanding area often deeply affects the human development. The change of capitalist production practice not only promoted the rapid development of productivity, but also brings about the formation and development of universe communication by creating "’Human History"’for the first time, thereby providing unprecedented historical opportunity for the all-round development of human. However, this type of general communication is based on capital, and does not facilitate all-round development of humans. Conversely, human development can only operate in form of alienation and objectification, which therefore gives rise to the unifaciality of human development. This phenomenon not only caused the intensive attention of Marx, but also was considered as a major problem that needs to be conscientiously studied and explored."The Economic manuscripts of 1857-1858’’(briefed as "Manuscripts 57-58"), as a draft of "Capital", is the very book which elaborately analysed and explored of the reationship between universe commucation of humans and human development. This textbook not solely reponded the above-mentioned question from the perspective of contemporary principles, but also put forward a very important theory and methodology in thinking and combating the relationship between capital-dominated globlisation and human development. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to find out and summarize the methods and opinions of Marx in his "’Manuscripts 57-58" in answering the question of how communication,especially the capital-centered universe communication, is related to human development. More importantly, I would illustrate the exact influence of capital-dominated globalisation on human development and the methodology the contemporary people could draw from the way Marx thought and viewed the question of what is the relationship between capital-dominated globalisation and human development.This thesis consists of four chapters:Chapter 1,an overview of Marx’s early thoughts of communication.First of all, with the help of Hegel’s analysis on the concept of "civil society", Marx has made the preliminary understanding about interpersonal relationship and its significance; then he discovered the relationship of commodity exchange and significance of its impact on essence and human development when he researched on the national economics in the "Paris Manuscripts"; subsequently, he established main topics in study of the viewpoint of history, that is to discuss the relationship between intercourse and individual development, after material production was refered to as the source of history and history was defined as an activity of people who pursued their own purposes in "Holy Family", especially when practice was interpreted as essence of social life and essence of people was defined as the sum of social relationship in "Theses on Feuerbach".The "German Ideology" preliminarily analysed the relationship between communication and human development in the perspective of historical materialism, while "The poverty of philosophy" and "Communist Manifesto" elaborated the relationship between capital-centered universal intercourse and individual development.Chapter 2,"Manuscript 57-58" systematically analysed the relationship between capital-centered universal communication and human development. It aimed to expose the captical logic and its influence on the development of human development. In essence, it discusses about how capitalism appears, develops and eclipses. Therefore, analysis and elucidation of the relationship between captical-centered universal communication and human development is always the logic thread runing through the research. According to Marx, capital-centered universal communication not only possesses the general connotation and characteristics of communication, but also possesses special provisions. The formation of capital-centered universal communication is of historical significance to the development of human history, but it has its limitations of capitalism. Hence, capital-centered universal communication has both positive and negative aspects. In summary, the realisation of human liberty and freedom cannot take place without capital-centered development if looked from the historical perspective.Chapter 1 "Manuscripts 57-58" facilitates the development of Marx’s early thoughts of communication. This lies in the fact that it shifts its focus from the general analysis of the relationship between human intercourse and development to detailed analysis and systemic explanation of the relationship between capital-centered universal intercourse and human development. The developments happened on three levels:first, from the relationship between civil society and human development to exploration of the relationship between capital logic and human development; second, from the general relation between human intercouse and human development to detailed analysis of the relationship between capital-centered universal intercourse and human development;third, from direct negation of alienation of communication to its dialectical negation.Chapter 4,contemporary significance of communication thought in "Manuscripts 57-58".Its systemic explanation of the relationship between capital-centered universal communication and human development exceeded the previous general abstract of the relationship between human communication and development, which is obviously of current significance. This could be displayed in three aspects:first, is helpful for the contemporary people to explain and elaborate marxist theory of communication completely and acurately; second, is benefical to comprehend and appraise the pros and cons of the new achievement on western communication theory; third, is helpful to examin and answer scientifically the relationship between globalisation and human development; third, is helpful to under and comprend the inner unified relationship between the strategy of deepening the reform and opening up in China and the pursng of all-round development of humban beings.
