Study On Exploitation Of The Sport Tourism In Shijiazhuang City

As time changes, with the rapid development of China’s tourism industry and the improved living standards, Chinese people are developing an ever increasing demand for traveling. Sports tourism is a characteristic tourism whose rise meets people’s consumer demands on a higher level. It is now becoming a new tourist hotspot and a new growth point of the national economy, and playing an increasingly important role in social life.Shijiazhuang City is endowed with abundant sports tourism resources. Relying on convenient transportation, the tourist industry in Shijiazhuang is embracing a historic opportunity for development; however, it lags behind in the development of sports tourism when compared with other neighboring cities and developed coastal cities. At present, little theoretical research has been done on the development of sports tourism in Shijiazhuang and the study done is short of integrity, and fails to form a certain scale, which is not in the interest of the development of sports tourism in Shijiazhuang.This paper, based on the fundamental theory on sports tourism, adopts methods including literature research, expert interviews, field work, and logical analysis to conduct an in-depth investigation into the situation of sports tourism in Shijiazhuang, whereby to learn about the distribution and developing status of the sports tourism resources in Shijiazhuang. The paper uses SWOT to analyze the development of sports tourism in Shijiazhuang, and with contents from 2011-2030 General Plan of Tourism Development in Shijiazhuang, Master Plan on Tourism in Shijiazhuang, 2012-2020 Strategic Plan of Tourism Development in Western Mountains of Shijiazhuang(Five Counties), and the 12 th Five-Year Plan on Sports Development in Shijiazhuang, etc. as reference, the paper conceives the development of sports tourism by dividing Shijiazhuang City, its downtown area, into a sports tourism zone for recreation; its northwest, into a sports tourism zone for red culture; its southwest, into a sports tourism zone displaying mountain ecosystem; its east, into a sports tourism zone showing plain and pastoral landscape. The paper concludes with an exploration on strategies for developing the sports tourism in Shijiazhuang according to the results from SWOT analysis. The author hopes that the research, to a certain extent, can help enrich the systematic theories on the development of sports tourism in Shijiazhuang, thereby contributing a bit to promoting the booming development of sports tourism in Shijiazhuang City, and even in Hebei Province.
