China is the world-renowned agricultural country, it’s economic development and social stability is inseparable from the agriculture, how to further strengthen agriculture as well as to strengthen its basic position has long been a problem that China focused on since when it was established. Due to the financial crisis and natural disasters and other reasons, agriculture can not effectively develop healthily. Listed agricultural companies are the representatives of our country’s advanced agriculture productivity, its development ability and profitability are all in the leading status of the agricultural enterprises. The healthy development of listed agricultural companies can promote the effective development of the whole agricultural industry. Therefore, to develop agriculture is to develop listed agriculture companies first. In recent years, China’s listed agricultural companies have been badly affected by the current economic restructure and a series of relevant issues, along with the decline of its operating performance and the increasing risk of operation. In this background, the performance evaluation of listed agricultural companies, can contribute needly effectively reasonable suggestions for improving agricultural comprehensive performance.The study is based on the sample data of 28 listed agricultural companies among the issuance of A shares from 2010 to 2012. Firstly, the 28 listed agricultural companies was divided into animal husbandry, fishery, comprehensive services, agriculture and forestry; and then selected 12 indicators, that is the earnings per share, operating profit margin, return on net assets, accounts receivable turnover, inventory turnover, current asset turnover, total assets turnover ratio, liquidity ratio, cash ratio, asset-liability ratio, main business revenue growth rate and growth rate of total assets. Using the factor analysis method, we measured the profit ability, operation ability, the cash flow ability, growth ability and debt paying ability of 28 listed agricultural companies, and then a comprehensive performance evaluation was conducted. The obtained order of business performance score of each industry is animal husbandry, fishery, comprehensive services, agriculture and forestry. Finally, based on the question of how to improve the comprehensive performance of listed agricultural companies, the paper briefly puts forward some policy suggestions such as the government should strengthen the adjustment of listed agricultural companies as well as the support role, build and perfect the management of incentive mechanism, strengthen the agricultural specialization operation strategy, regime innovation, and modernize the logistics of agricultural products and so on.
