With the increasingly fierce market competition, the difficulty of production management is increasing among manufacturing enterprises, customer required delivery time is getting shorter, the order changes and emergency orders are becoming more frequently, a factory cannot make an effective response in a timely manner, in order to cope with these unstable factors complicate the factory management process. The cycle of order to delivery is too long, Frequent downtime caused by material shortage has led to serious delay, but at the same time dead inventory was growing. Series of contradictions in daily production becomes more and more prominent.Production on demand, lean manufacturing, flexible response, which should be the highest level of manufacturing management, which is the cornerstone of building a lean supply chain. ERP is a tool which enterprises used to establish standard processes and develop resource planning. Most manufacturing companies are currently implementing lean manufacturing and ERP, but due to lean production emphasizes pulling system and ERP emphasizes push, and the implementation of lean and ERP in an enterprise mostly are not well synchronized, it always cause some misunderstanding, which believes the two philosophies are mutually contradicted, collaborative coexistence is unrealistic.In this paper, based on the theory and principles of lean manufacturing and ERP, I made some researches on the relationship between the two approaches, indicating lean manufacturing and ERP are not mutually contradictory, but can be combined with a synergistic relationship with each other.In this paper, based on the theory and principles of lean manufacturing and ERP, I made some researches on the relationship between the two approaches, indicating lean manufacturing and ERP are not mutually contradictory, but can be combined with a synergistic relationship with each other. Through the analysis on advantages and disadvantages of both methods, proves that the strengths of one approach could be benefit supplement of each other. The combination point of the two approaches was found as well. Proves the two approaches could be implemented together and could generate synergy, noting that with lean manufacturing as the guiding ideology, ERP as the carrier media, Lean ERP project can maximize their role through case studies.
