In the past decades, the Chinese commercial banks have been constructing the line management mode, but still with a lot of defects for many reasons. This paper aims to study the optimization of the Chinese commercial bank’ line management mode, so to improve and perfect the line management mode of the Chinese commercial banks. This paper first introduces the present situation of the line management mode of the Chinese commercial banks and the existent defects, and discusses the possible reasons. Then, with the Agricultural Bank of China as a case, the paper will discuss the defects of the current line management mode and the possible measures. The paper then furthers to introduce the experience of the foreign banks’ line management and their organizational structure reform, puts forward the solutions to improve the line management mode of the Chinese commercial banks, providing reference for their future reform. This paper is composed of seven parts. Chapter One is the introduction. This chapter mainly introduces the background, purposes and significance of this paper, and the literature review, analysis framework and the contributions of this paper. The second chapter is the relevant theories of commercial banks’ line management mode and introduces the organizational structure theory, so to better understand of line management. The third chapter is the present situation of the Chinese commercial banks’ line management and the drawbacks. This chapter mainly presents the analysis of the current mode of the Chinese commercial banks’ line management, introducing the shortcomings of their line management mode. The fourth chapter is the specific case analysis. The paper has chosen the Agricultural Bank of China as the sample to analyze the present situation of its line management, the advantages, disadvantages and risks, etc. The fifth chapter has introduced the lessons of the commercial banks in the developed countries, and specifically analyzes the evolution and development of the commercial banks’ organizational structure in developed countries, in order to provide some lessons for the Chinese commercial banks in their way to improving the line management mode. The sixth chapter is the countermeasure analysis. Based on the analysis of the previous chapters, some measures have been put forward. The last part is the general summary for this article.
