With the development of China’s economics, the energy situation is becoming more and more serious. Cost of building energy takes a great part in the total energy consumption in China(about1/5), so building energy saving must be forced unde r such a circumstance. Solar energy, with its clean and unlimited characteristic, has greatly caused people’s attention. Solar-thermal technology, which is the main form of solar hot water system, has been applied to people’s daily life gradually. By using solar hot water system, the consumption of conventional energy can be reduced. Also, it can reduce the emission of carbon dioxide. However, by doing research on the solar energy utilization in some developed areas, such as Jiangsu Province, Yunnan Province, and Shenzhen city, it is found that users lack recognition of the economic benefits and energy-saving benefits of the solar hot water system. Meanwhile, the problems of the heating measurement and payment is very serious. But there is no corresponding polices in China. Therefore, this article starts with the solar hot water system’s efficiency evaluation and analyzes quantitatively the feasibility that people use it instead of conventional sources of energy. This article also has a cost analysis of hot water.Firstly, the article introduces the theory of solar hot water system, its components, and three ways in integration with buildings. Secondly, it expounds the importance of solar hot water system efficiency evaluation, how to evaluate it, its process and index. By evaluating the different types of solar hot water system’s efficiency in the typical project of Shenzhen city, and comparing it with conventional electricity, gas water heater, the article analyzes and tests quantitatively the economic benefits, energy-saving benefits and environmental benefits of the solar hot water system.Meanwhile, this article is set on the charging situations of solar hot water system and starts with the components of solar hot water price. It analyzes the cost and sets up the mathematical model of solar water heating unit cost. According to the model, it sums up the collector area,solar energy radiant quantity, water quantity, hot water temperature that affect the solar hot water cost.At last,the article puts forward the scheme to improve the current hot water charging methods based on different solar hot water systems. For example, it presents a quarterly-charged cascade rate mechanism and establishes the mechanism of water price adjustment. This article puts forward some reference opinions to optimize the management strategy of high-rise residential ’s solar hot water system. Lastly, based on the current investment model of solar hot water system, it proposes some appropriate incentives to promote the solar hot water ’s popularity.
