Shanxi Province is the important coal base of China,it’salso the most typical resource-based economic zone in our country. In order to ensure the security of our country’s energy, Shanxi has made great contributions to the economic development for our country. But due to the excessive reliance on coal resourcesdevelopment, it formed the single industrial structure and brings a series of problems.For example severe economic fluctuations, severe resources waste, the ecological environment deteriorationand a series of other problems, Shanxi sinking into the predicament of resource dependence,it’s economic structure transformation development mission is very difficult. It is high time that we should through deepening reform and institutional innovation to explore the resources of economic transformation new development path.Based on the resources economic development present situation of Shanxi Province, this paper analyzes the relationship between resources exploitation and economic development. At the same time analyzed the necessity of the economic transformation, then based on the experience of the resource-based economic transformation success at home and abroad, put forward the economic transformation new route of Shanxi Province. That Shanxi should respect the rule of industrial development, pay attention to adapt to the economic development and environmental bearing capacity, and take a step by step, layer upon layer to promote the harmonious development. In the early period of the transformation, Shanxi should be focused on the industry upgrading and industrial chain extension.In the medium-term should promote the development of the industry diversification, attaches great importance to cultivate the alternative industries.
