Temporal GIS technology continues to evolve and mature in many areas and it has been widely used. The spatial-temporal data model theory and space-time data updating technology industry have a good application in the land. But so far, these models have been less used in data updating for planning class data. Jiangsu Province township land use planning data updating, for example, is still stuck in non-fixed frequency and non-timely and human-computer interaction. There is no historical data management, and it is not convenient for query and trace.To ensure the current potential and reflect the reality and be convenient for query and trace and provide data base for business applications, it needs to update the results of general plans of land use to the database in time in order to manage historical data and provide a good searching and retrieving results. Additionally, in January 2014, the Jiangsu Provincial Department issued a notice named" Notice on the database updating for general plans of land use" (Jiangsu Land Resource Bureau [2014] No. 34), and thus for the theoretical and practical point of view, it needs to be studied in this paper.This paper analyzed the characteristics of business and data for general plans of land use, and studied the technology of the model and updating of spatial-temporal data. On the basis of other experience, this paper designed the updating model and database for general plans of land use, and it also designed the method for data updating and query and trace. Results of this study had been verified by the examples, and enriched the spatial-temporal data model system and complemented the method for data updating and query and trace for general plans of land use, and provided a reference to solve similar problems. Contents and conclusions of this paper included the following aspects:(1) This paper analyzed the modify type and frequency and the process of database updating for general plans of land use, and studied the origin, type, content and characteristic of data updating, and analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of mainstream spatial-temporal data model. This paper chose the spatial-temporal data model based on event to optimize, and designed spatial-temporal data model based on event and process and operation, and selected the event-driven interaction incremental updating as a database updating method.(2)This paper designed the concept and logical and physical structure of the database for general plans of land use, and designed the method of updating in terms of that it analyzed the organization of updating package and the whole process of updating and constructed seven updating models that had four types. It designed the method of snapshot query based on time point which combined version, multilevel ground state, two-way correct. This paper designed the method of status query around updating based on event and tracing the change of process based on period in order to improve the efficiency.(3) This paper selected the data of township general plans of land use of Jiangning district, Nanjing city, Jiangsu province as the research object for its easily acquired and high quality. The initial state of this region’s data was put into the database. And then this paper selected the typical event to simulate the database updating process used the method designed, and displayed the results of query and trace. Through analysis, the method of this paper saves storage space and improve the efficiency of updating and can query the data at any given time.
