The Analysis Of Foreign Investment In Thailand’s Automobile Industry

The automobile industry has become one of the most important industries in Thailand. In the present, Thailand is also the leader in automobile production among Southeast Asia countries. In year 2013 and 2014, Japan automobile multinational corporations had the largest production volume in Thailand.In the same year, Japan automobile multinational corporation occupied 89% of market share in Thailand’s automobile market, Europe and America automobile multinational corporations occupied for only a small part of the market share in Thailand. Compared with foreign automobile enterprises, there are only a few Thailand native automobile enterprises, and its influence is very weak on Thailand automobile industry.Based on Thailand’s automobile industry development in past 50 years, this thesis will introduce the overview of Thailand automobile industry,for example the history of foreign automobile multinational corporation in Thailand, the current situation of Thailand’s automobile industry, and the status of multinational corporation in Thailand’s automobile industry. This thesis will apply statistical method and comparative method to research the foreign investment in Thailand’s automobile industry, and then divided the foreign automobile multinational corporations into three groups as follows:Japan, America and Europe. This thesis will study about the differential investment behavior among these three groups, analyzing how three groups of foreign automobile multinational corporations develop their automobile industry in Thailand, how to establish their production base in Thailand, analysis the influence factors of foreign multinational Corporation investment in Thailand’s automobile industry. Then put forward some problems of foreign investment in Thailand’s automobile industry, and suggest how to create a better investment environment, how to attract and retain foreign investment,and more important is how to use foreign capital, technology, management experience and other resources, to promote the rise of Thailand’s native automobile industry. These suggestions are very important for development Thailand’s automobile industry.
