In the knowledge-economy era, facing the rapid technological updating and the complexand changeable competitive environment, enterprises have to continue innovating so theycould survive and develop. The subject of enterprise innovation is employees; employeecreativity is the source and origin of enterprise innovation. Inspiring employee creativity,which can bring better ideas, products, services, production methods and managementprocesses to enterprises, is crucial for enterprises to realize breakthrough and get development.Therefore, how to inspire employee creativity has become a high-profile topic in business.Scholars are very interested in research on inspiring employee creativity as well.Inspiring employee creativity must first clear what factors will affect employee creativity.Many scholars discussed the influences of support factors in the organizational environmentfactors on employee creativity, the results showed that leadership support and coworkersupport can promote employee creativity. From the perspective of social exchange and basedon the social exchange theory, this study takes perceived organizational support as theindependent variable, which is under the background of Chinese culture and has threedimensions, and employee creativity as the dependent variable, at the same time introduces jobengagement as the mediator, which is a positive state of individuals. Using the method ofempirical study, this study constructs a theory model, and puts forward the research hypothesis, and verifies this theory model and the hypothesis through questionnaire survey and datastatistics analysis, and explores the influence mechanism of perceived organizational supporton employee creativity.The investigation objects of this study are mainly the employees in the Yangtze Riverdelta, Beijing, Tianjin, Shandong and Henan regions.300questionnaires were issued and248valid questionnaires were collected at last. The collected data is analyzed by mathematicalstatistics analysis tools SPSS18.0and Lisrel8.80with reliability analysis, validity analysis,correlation analysis and regression analysis to verify the research hypothesis. The results showthat perceived organizational support has significant positive influence on employee creativity;job engagement play a partial mediator role in the process of perceived organizational supporteffecting on employee creativity. Finally, based on the above research results, suggestions onmanagement practice are proposed as references for enterprises to inspire employee creativity.In management practice, enterprises should truly support and care for employees in work andlife and let employees actually feel organizational support, so that they can promote employeesfully display and give scope to creativity. Cultivating employees’ perceived organizationalsupport can be specifically undertaken from the following aspects: paying attention to theprocedural justice and giving employees opportunities to participate in formulation of systems;establishing a good communication mechanism within the enterprise; strengthening the carefor quality of employees’family life.
