In recent years, due to climate change, which has made the quantification of green house gas(GHG) emission gain widespread concern, the research on Carbon Footprint as a way to quantify GHG emission has become a hot topic in research.China has the most completed textile chain and as a key industry of China’s Energe Saving and Emission Reduction Plan, the research of Carbon Footprint in textile industry should get an international leading position.Firstly, in this thesis,a survey was made to gather information from consumers and corporations to know the applicating situation of Carbon Footprint in textile industry. The questionnaire results show that the majority of consumers hold an optimistic attitude to the promotion of Carbon Footprint, however, the most coporations by research stay in a wait state and would not take the initiative to promote the demonstration of Carbon Footprint.By comparing the literature on the use of the Carbon Footprint of the existing issued accounting standards, it was found that the most of the required calculation of the existing product carbon footprint is based on B2C (Business to Customer),and the british PAS2050is both applicable to B2C and B2B (Business to Business); in the scope section, they could apply to all products and services (except Japanese standard,in which services are not included); in addition, the data quality requirements, there are special requirements in Australian Greenhouse Friendly, which needs to quantify the uncertainty of the data (such as data, modules and assumptions). The description and results of uncertainty would also be included in ISO14067,which would be promoted in the future. So it can be seen the requirements of the calculation of Carbon Footprint will be more rigorous when the Carbon Footprint calculation is used internationally.Secondly, using different typical calculating methods in the same factory and comparing the difference in the result,0.8624kg CO2e according to GHG Protocol and3.4565kg CO2e according to PAS2050were calculated due to each pair of jeans, the main source of difference between the results are the differences in the border demarcation and differences in scope and methods of data collection.Thirdly, this study proposes the concept of Industrial Carbon Footprint and its meaning and makes a detailed interpretation of research methods; through field research in the textile and apparel factories, explored the application of industrial carbon footprint in textile industry and made a demonstration to verify the feasibility of the concept in practical application; To some difficulties in application, such as data distribution and the choice of GHG emission factors and other issues, some solutions were given. Finally, to settle the uncertainty of the results of Carbon Footprint, the Monte Carlo simulation combined with data quality matrix were used to determine the factors which result in the uncertainty of Carbon Footprint result and the impact of different data quality level to the final uncertainty of Carbon Footprint result.
