With the in-depth study of low-carbon economics,low-carbon supply chain is also expanding into application.Environmental consciousness has become critical in the design and operation of globally integrated supply chain networks.Obviously, supply chain design and management of low carbon technology will become an inevitable trend in the future. And calculating the carbon footprint across the supply chain is a prerequisite for the implementation of low-carbon supply chain. As one of the largest carbon emitters,China has to take low-carbon supply chain, which is the key to get way ahead of the future global economic.Yet,there has no research results about the study of modeling carbon footprint with whole supply chain(consumer included)as an object. This paper examines the carbon footprint across the whole supply chain. In order to monitor carbon emissions and emission position in real time, appropriate models were built for 5 stages in the product life cycle(PLC)respectively. With carbon labeling based on PLC,carbon footprint can be visualized across the supply chain.Models on carbon emission and visualization of carbon footprint will be a new utility to the supply chain of low carbon technology. Some research has been done about this as follows:In the first chapter, author researches actuality of low-carbon supply chain, carbon footprint quantitative model methods and the application of carbon labeling have been reviewed.Based on that, author then briefly states the limitations of present study, which helped to show the importance, meaning and necessity of research. In this part, the structure of this paper has been presented as well. The second chapter first contributes to the knowledge and practice of low-carbon supply chain, carbon emission meseasurement method and carbon labeling. The second key point is going through the analysis and comparison of current carbon emission methods. And the main mathematically modeling method supported by LCA has to be suggested. The third chapter focuses on modeling carbon footprint for different stages based on PLC.The analytical model uses the Eulerian and Lagragian methods,Eulerian box model for raw material for extraction and manufacturing stages,Lagragian model for distribution stage, and Eulerian-Lagragian coupled model for usage and recycle stages. The forth chapter takes H tobacco factory as a simplified numerical example to validate and illustrate the proposed approach. And the visualization of the carbon footprint supported by carbon labels in a network of Brand A cigarette will be designed to show the whole carbon footprint across the supply chain, through which H tobacco factory and other cooperative partners in this supply chain could come into together to monitor and control carbon emissions and emission positions in real time.In addition, carbon labeling is an effective way to help consumers to improve the decision-making strategy on low-carbon products.Finaly, the total research works are summarized, and further researches are prospected.
