Study On The Role Of Finance In The Agricultural Modernization In Suqian, China

Agricultural modernization refers to the agricultural production and management during which modern industry ideas are used as the instructions and advanced machines and equipment are also widely used with highly developed science and technology. During this process, modern industrial organizations are established and closely connected. Modern agriculture is then featured with modern management characteristics, higher labor productivity, land output, and economic, ecological and social effect etc. During modernization, traditional agriculture is transformed to modern one. Agriculture is the foundation of human civilization and national economy, so most countries in the world have put more and more efforts to vigorously promote the modernization of agriculture. China has also tried the best to do so since the establishment. The agriculture is most fundamental to Suqian city which belongs to less developed areas. So, to identify the main factors influencing the modernization of agriculture and to find out the key to accelerate the process are of great importance for Suqian city and some other similar areas. This will be helpful for these areas to achieve a breakthrough in the development of agriculture.In this study, we collected related information, raw domestic data and literatures about agricultural modernization. Analysis was performed on the process and the corresponding financial supports and policies. A case study was carried out in Suqian city, Jiangsu province, China to investigate and explore the role of finance in agricultural modernization and to find out the bottleneck factors. We finally raised some measures trying to promote agricultural modernization in this underdeveloped area.To financially support the agricultural modernization is a common sense by almost all countries around the world. They have formulated financial policies to support agriculture. Finance has played a very significant role in promoting and driving the modernization of agriculture. The case study in Suqian city showed that finance is of great importance to this city during the process of agricultural modernization. The intensity of financial support for agriculture was positively correlated with the level of modernization. The regulation of finance on agricultural modernization was more and more obvious, so the focus of the financial input directly affected the field of agricultural modernization. However, the agricultural modernization in this city was currently underdeveloped and there were more we can do financially.Therefore, we could take the strategies below to accelerate the modernization of agriculture in this city and some other less developed areas:to strengthen the support to agricultural mechanization, to increase the financial investment to agricultural scientific research and education, to establish new agricultural production and operation entities, to further integrate and arrange financial funds for supporting agriculture, and to attract more social financial supports into agricultural modernization.
