Business-Driven It Change Management In Clouds Using A Strategy-Tree

Cloud computing uses computing resources as utility and may make earth-shaking changes to the IT industry. As more and more enterprises use cloud computing to manage their companies, cloud computing owns a grander prospect.However, as the booming of client, the demands from client are of changing and complexities, and this brings challenge to cloud management. Among the10traditional ITIL management processes, change management is one of the most important management processes. In the cloud environment, requests for change are changeable and complex. It’s impossible to set a strategy to deal with all the possible situation. How to make trade-off to the cost, revenue and quality of service becomes the key of cloud providers’success, and also the most difficult research problem.To solve the problem above, we propose a strategy-based IT change management model in cloud environment. In order to achieve cloud providers’business objectives, we can integrate BLOs into cloud resource management. Business-driven IT management aims to mapping IT-related events to business metric, measuring the impact of IT events to the business directly. This methodology makes IT management help business directly. IT management in cloud environment is both complex and dynamic, so it is impossible to design a strategy to deal with all problems. The solution is to design a set of strategies, which have the same ultimate objective, make trade-off according to the current system situation during the run time. The system can dynamic choose a most suitable strategy from the strategy set to solve the current problem. Strategy-tree is a abstract method which encapsulates a set of strategies. It provides a method to estimate the performance of current strategy and make decision to change the strategy according to the evaluation. It provides a dynamic strategy transformation during run-time, so it’s the perfect candidate to solve IT management problem in cloud environment.In this paper, we will discuss IT management method and model for PaaS and IaaS providers. We obtain IT measure metric in run-time and map it to business measure metric to estimate the IT impact to the business. Through this we can estimate the performance of current strategy and decide whether to change strategy or not. In this way, we can realize the business objectives of cloud providers.
