ABSTRACT:As the oil crisis and environment pollution being more serious, the development of new energy vehicles speeds up than before. In consideration of this situation, China started to promote the new energy vehicle industry heavily since2001. As one of Energy-Saving and New-Energy Vehicle Pilots, Beijing has made some achievements in recent years. The paper focuses on competiveness of new energy bus industry in Beijing. By comparing to other cities, the advantages and disadvantages of new energy bus industry in Beijing can be summarized. Thus, experiences from other cities can be learned.Firstly, the paper systemizes the previous studying, which relates to the new energy vehicle concepts, industry competiveness and the "diamond model". The literature revi ew provides support for the following research.Secondly, the paper presents the current situation of new energy bus industry in Bei jing, including infrastructure, scientific research base and the industrial policy. It refers t he specific development data of the three aspects, which give us an intuitive understandi ng for the industry development.Thirdly, referring to the characteristic of new energy industry and the former research achievements, the paper revises the "diamond model "and thus constructs the c ompetitiveness evaluation system. Based on the evaluation system, the paper collects an d analyzes the raw data by many channels. Then, the paper systematically compares Bei jing with Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Tianjin and Wuhan.Finally, in view of the results of the comparison among the cities, the paper finds o ut the strength and weakness points of the new energy bus industry in Beijing. At last, th e paper puts forward six suggestions.
