Products from the development, design began, through production, assembly, transport, marketing, sale, and after-sales service processes, accompanied by the production, transfer and absorption of knowledge in these processes, which are attached to the product knowledge of architecture, is a reflection of the nature of the product architecture. When the product architecture moves along the value chain of the enterprise, its strategic value depends on the product architecture knowledge transmission mechanism. Based on the transfer of architectural knowledge on the value chain, analysis of the strategic value of the product architecture, build the product architecture strategic value evaluation model to measure and evaluate the application of product architecture in the organization. Through the application of strategic value evaluation model of product architecture, can help enterprises to determine the organization structure, looking for the product architecture’s needs to improve and improve operational effectiveness enterprises to achieve economies of scale and enterprise strategic value.In this paper, through literature review, this paper analyzes the product architecture, architecture knowledge, architecture value, the organization’s related theory, on the basis of thinking the product architecture strategic value evaluation mechanism, come to realize the product architecture strategic value is obtained by the two aspects of product architecture and organization structure. Product architecture is evaluated by the complexity of product architecture knowledge; organization structure is evaluated by the complexity of organization. Product architecture is closely related to economy of scale, we use economies of scale to measure the product architecture’s strategic value. On the basis of complexity of product architecture knowledge, complexity of organization and economies of scale, we build the quantitative model to assess the strategic value of the product architecture. Finally, select a service-oriented enterprise with a clear transfer of knowledge as an example to verify the validity of the model.The realization of this study confirm the strategic value of the product architecture is influenced by the overall value chain, each link in the value chain need to cooperate with each other on. In addition, the realization of the product architecture’s strategic value requires the match of complexity of product architecture knowledge and complexity of organization. The innovation of this article is from the perspective of product architecture knowledge to analyze product architecture, makes analysis of the architecture out of the modular or integration barriers, and to build a quantitative model for the evaluation of product architecture strategic value, help enterprise to judge organization’s application of product architecture.
