With the progress of China’s growing economic and social attitudes, the tourismmarket continues to expand. However, compared to other areas of services, China’stourist and folk house tourist attractions are lagging behind the globalization processand the development trend of China’s industrialization in Strategic thinking, operationmode and management. This paper aims to study the value chain theory which hasbeen applied for a long time in other industries and putting it into practice of tourismdevelopment. Provide theoretical guidance for improving the competitiveness oftourist destinations. Take the theory into reality tourism products and competitiveadvantage. Balance between economic benefit and social benefit and ecologicalbenefit and promote the sustainable development.This article is mainly used in literature analysis and field survey method. On thebasis of previous research results, summarize and develop the tourism value chain,based on the value chain theory as the support point and the starting point for research.Observe Nanjing Tulou tourism resources on the spot. Through the analysis of thevalue chain of basic activities and auxiliary activities, to further expand the tourismvalue chain to build folk houses tourism value chain and Nanjing Tulou tourism valuechain. Provide reference and theoretical support for the development of NanjingTulou scenic area.This article consists six parts: The first part analyzes the background of theestablishment of value chain, including the purpose of meaning. It further describes themethod and content of the study. The second part expounds the basic theory of valuechain related, discussed the formation and development of the value chain theorycontext, three kinds of forms, then introduces the definition, characteristics and studyof tourism value chain. Lay a foundation for building model of folkhouses tourism value chain. The third part analyzes the folk houses tourism scenic areaby value chain theory.
