The Commercial Bank of our country has traditional assets and liabilities business as main business, but in recent years with the domestic economic development and the opening degree rise, many foreign commercial banks began to introduce advanced management mode, the domestic bank’s traditional management model has been challenged, and the bank’s intermediate business as a new module gradually to be put on the important position. Precious metals as a long history and profitable intermediate business in abroad, more and more get the favour of commercial banks.In September9,2009, China’s commercial banks first specialized in gold and other precious metals business institutions--ICBC precious metals business department was formally established in Shanghai. This event to be considered as a mark of new stage of precious metal market, and will positively effect Chinese financial market. The newly established ICBC precious metal Services Department is responsible for the gold and other precious metals business operation and management, the scope of its business including precious metals self-employed business; agent for metal storage, delivery, transport and liquidation, precious metals tenancy business; precious metal investment and financing as agent; precious metals in financing, lending and other precious metals industry.
