As the accession of wealth and investment demand,Chinese residents pay more and more attention to precious metals products because of the function of assets hedge.Facing the increasing uncertainty of international politics and economy,the Chinese government encourages residents to invest precious metal to strengthen its international payment capability and maintain the financial security.Under this context,Chinese commercial banks attach greater importance to precious metal business in recent years.Based on the above background,this article selects Heilongjiang Branch of ICBC as an example to research the existing problems and causes in precious metal business with interviewing method,documentary method,case method,SWOT analysis,etc.Eventually,finding countermeasures to achieve the sustainable development of the business.Under the proposed idea,this article organizes the related documents at home and abroad and lays a theoretical foundation.Then it studies the development and market competitiveness of Heilongjiang Branch in precious metal business in order to identify the existing problems which restrict the development of the business.Through summarizing the existing problems in management mechanism,business team,products and services and business channels,this article find the root cause of the decline in revenue,customers,and competitiveness.Finally,this article starts with the objective reality of Heilongjiang Branch and learns from the experience of other branches of ICBC and competitors,coming up with countermeasures to the existing problems.This is valuable not only for the development of the precious metal business of Heilongjiang Branch but also for the development of emerging business of domestic commercial banks.
