With the step into the21stcentury, the human society movedinto an era of peace and development instead of the of war andrevolution, and the end of two world wars and the cold warleaving us with many heritages and historical burdens which makethe mankind into the reflection of the past. Since1776, thelonging for political independence, economic freedom and socialjustice which as the call of the times has gradually becominga consensus of all-human. But the old thought still remains andthe real world was threatened by political conflicts, economicfrictions and security risks.Geopoliticswas born in late19thcentury to early20thcentury.It’s exploration in the relationship between the state and thegeographical environment provides us a new perspective for theanalysis of political and economic relations between countries.The “sea power” which propound by Mahan, Mackinder’s“heartland” and Spykman’s “rimland” pointed out the futuregeographical direction of the activities of the human society,which was proved by China’s dilemma when facing marine affairsin East Asia in the21thcentury. In Northeast Asia, China is facing a grim internationalsituation and conflicts among its neighbors dragged China inlike a black hole. In Southeast Asia, countries are stealingthe interests of China, which has lost great wealth andsuffering the incomplete sovereignty. All these hardships, notonly violated China’s national sovereignty and interests, butalso made China distracted which cannot put all its attentioninto economic construction. The turbulent environment is alsoa threat to the economic exchanges and the cooperation betweenChina and the world. The Sino-U.S. relations lead to all thesetensions as the same as Sino-soviet relations did in the70’sat last century.Conflicts between big powers will give theirneighbors opportunities to search for benefits, which led anabsurd situation that “getting its economy developed throughChina and trying to please the US politically”.For the harmony of the East Asian, countries ought to promoteeconomic cooperation in the ocean, which rely on the researchon the maritime strategies and the latest trend of thegreat-power games among the countries in East Asia. GoodSino-U.S. relations would make more resources invest intoeconomy. Establishment of an effective mechanism for regionalcooperation and security and changing the old strategy mode anddevelopment way could let the East Asian economic developmentthrough the marine cooperation.
